Just when the Golden State Warriors were feeling this team was at its breaking point, Jordan Poole has stepped up and proven he can be a glimmer of hope to close out this season.

The Dubs have been struggling to remain consistent and finding enough support for Stephen Curry has been more difficult than expected. With guys like Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins flip-flopping each night as shooters, it has been rough for this team to find any additional offense to Curry’s attacks.

Then, Poole returned from the G-League. The young guard is playing the best basketball of his career and slowly proving he can be a key piece to the Warriors’ future. In a game where neither Stephen Curry, James Wiseman or Eric Paschall played, Poole (alongside with 40 points from Andrew Wiggins) scored 25 points to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jordan Poole is on a hot streak and he might be blazing a path to becoming a key member of the Golden State Warriors.

Heading into his game against Memphis, Poole was averaging 19.0 points on above 45 percent shooting from the 3-point line. He’s drilling catch-and-shoot attempts at a high-rate and finding success as a ball handler.

Poole has always flashed potential as a distributor. He’s great at keeping his dribble alive and firing live-action passes to open teammates. His turnovers are down and his efficiency is up. This is an area of his game that has improved recently and should continue to look better as he grows more comfortable.

Comfort has been the key to Poole’s success. As Nico Mannion stated, Poole isn’t showing any new talents – he’s just feeling more confident in his abilities. The more he shines on the court, the better Poole will become.

This is huge for the Warriors who are in need of a reliable bench presence. If he’s able to finish the season strong and improve once again in the offseason, Poole could find himself being the first man off the bench on a young Warriors team with championship aspirations.
