Potential Warriors Trade Suggestion: Kelly Oubre Jr. to the Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets added Aaron Gordon prior to the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline.

The team had clearly been lacking defensive aptitude since Jerami Grant left last offseason. Gordon’s an attempt to replace that, but Oubre Jr. may have been a cheaper addition. The Nuggets paid the package above and Gary Harris.

Harris is a solid, up-and-coming guard that’s struggled to stay on the court. When healthy, Harris is a top-tier defender.

That said, if playmaking and defense are what Denver wants, then Oubre Jr. could’ve been a target for them. Oubre Jr.’s market was hot, and despite his shooting numbers being lower, his defense and energy have been brought on an every-game basis.

Gordon was brought in to defender bigger forwards in the West.

While not the same weight, Oubre Jr. gives up just two inches to Gordon. With a higher ceiling on the offensive end, the Nuggets, given their activity around the deadline, may have easily been a team calling about Oubre Jr.
