The money

As noted, Curry will be hitting the market, which means the Warriors will also be able to offer him a new contract as well. The Warriors should have the means to give him another max-value deal. That’s all Curry can ask for.

He’s among the highest-paid players in the league, and Golden State should be able to offer him a deal that can’t be matched. Now, this is all assuming that money matters at this stage in Curry’s career.

He signed a five-year deal worth over $200 million, so he has enough to be generationally stable. To be fair, that’s just his contract as well and not including endorsements from companies like Under Armour.

The money could be something that helps keep him in the Bay Area. The Warriors should be able to offer the largest deal they can, and given that he’s a legend within the organization, it’ll probably be for as many years as he’d like as well.

If that’s the case, it’s unlikely something the Lakers would be willing to match.
