Golden State Warriors must: Develop the youth

The Golden State Warriors would be pretty dang happy if they see some notable improvements from their young core. A leap in development from Nico Mannion, Jordan Poole, Eric Paschall and James Wiseman would do quite a bit towards raising their ceiling next season.

Mannion and Poole have been thriving since their promotion from the G-League. Yet, the two guards have a long way to go and much to prove before being reliable playmakers and scorers. Not to mention, they have plenty of work to do as individual (and team) defenders.

Paschall is the farthest along with his personal development but he’s also the oldest of the bunch. At 24 years of age, we might not see any drastic improvements but building on his 3-point shooting and picking up all of the details that will round out his game could help Paschall solidify his role with the team.

As for Wiseman, the Warriors will need to continue being patient. It’s growing clear that Wiseman will be a work in progress. Even so, he’s flashed potential as a floor-spacer and rim protector. The natural talent is there for Wiseman. All that remains is putting it together and taking another step towards becoming a star. At the least, Wiseman will need to be a consistent member of the rotation by next season.

Then, there’s the chance for the Warriors to have two lottery picks in the upcoming NBA Draft. Whoever they select, it goes without saying the Dubs will be looking for instant production from these youngsters. The youth has the ability to improve this team exponentially.
