The Golden State Warriors truly don’t have much incentive to compete for a playoff spot. As a result, there is no reason not to rest Stephen Curry whenever his health is even the least bit in question.

The Golden State Warriors chose to rest Stephen Curry in their game against the Toronto Raptors and this was the right decision.

Curry has been dealing with a bruised tailbone since mid-March when he tumbled over the sidelines in Houston. These injuries can be tough to deal with and Curry has been battling through the pain ever since.

He made his return versus Chicago. And, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly obvious Curry had just missed a week full of games. The former MVP posted 32 points and 6 assists in a 14-point victory over the revamped Bulls.

Curry looked great in his second game back as well. He put up his 10th game of 36 or more points and recorded a season-high 11 rebounds. This wasn’t enough to thwart the Miami Heat, who have won three straight and are 14-7 since February 18. The defending Eastern Conference champs held Curry to just 9-of-19 shooting in their victory.

It was clear that moving around the floor was a painful process for Curry. Particularly, hitting the deck caused quite a bit of pain for Steph. Because of this, the Warriors made the decision to rest him against Toronto in what is ultimately a win-win move for the team.

Regardless of the final outcome against Toronto (it was bad), it’s important to prioritize Curry’s health moving forward. There’s no urgency to reach the playoffs and the team might actually be better suited missing the postseason altogether.

I wouldn’t be mad at all if the Dubs continue to strategically rest Curry for the remainder of the season. Allowing Curry enough time to return to full strength and potentially increasing their lottery odds in the process is a sound move for the Warriors.
