Golden State Warriors announce fans will return to Chase Center
While, at first, it might not have seemed possible, the Golden State Warriors are going to have fans this season. The team’s press release said that they’ll be welcoming fans back for the final nine games of the season.
Their three-game home stretch that will commence when they take on the Wizards tonight will be the final set of games at the Chase Center without fans as the Dubs then go on a five-game road trip prior to April 23, the first game that fans will be allowed back.
The Golden State Warriors will allow fans at the Chase Center for the organization’s final nine home games of the season starting on April 23.
The team release also went into how they plan to mitigate any spread of Covid-19.
For now, the team is either asking fans to produce a vaccination card or receiving a negative test within 48 hours of game time. While this may not be taken kindly by fans, no protocol would hit the public without some discomfort. It seems very fair to say the least.
It’s even easier than one may think.
"“Every person entering Chase Center must produce either proof of a full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test that was administered within 48 hours prior to the game. Fans who purchase their tickets more than seven days in advance of the game will be eligible to receive, at no cost to the fan, an at-home Lucira Health molecular COVID-19 test to be self-administered within 48 hours of the game, making the Warriors the first sports team to provide fans with an at-home testing solution. Fans will then enroll in CLEAR’s Health Pass where they can securely link their test result and complete a health survey to generate a Health Pass, which they will be required to show for entry to Chase Center.” the release noted."
The Warriors bringing fans back should be terrific for the players. With the Chase Center having had little action since it started being the Warriors home a season ago, many will soon get to take part in his luxury.
That said, the one thing that may get those that are against the testing and limited capacity going is that fans with the full vaccination can get better tickets than those that just produce a negative test as those aren’t failproof.
"“Fully-vaccinated fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets in designated sections of the arena bowl,” the release ended with."
That lower bowl having some noise may help show the new Warriors like James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre Jr. just how exciting the arena can be.
While it will likely do little to retain Oubre Jr., there’s always a chance that hearing the excitement of Bay Area faithful has some pull on his free agency decision. That, even for a Warriors blog, feels like a stretch though.
Overall, it’s pretty exciting to hear that fans will be back to see the Warriors this season!
