Warriors potential realistic free agent target: JJ Redick

JJ Redick could’ve been a target prior to the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline, but if we’re being honest, he’s not worth what he’s being paid.

At this point in his career, Redick is more of a pure sharpshooter and less of an all-around scoring option. His numbers have taken a drastic plummet this season, so he could be a cheap play in the free agency market.

Having that type of shooting off the bench would be ideal and something Golden State could’ve used this season. That said, Redick is averaging 8.7 points per game, his lowest amount in over a decade.

His 36.4 percent from deep is the lowest of his career as well. Leaving New Orleans on an unhappy note, Redick could join a top-tier shooting team in Golden State. He would be taking most of the minutes that Jordan Poole and Damion Lee are getting.

The need may not be there, but the want should be. Redick will be 37 before the start of next season and should see a drastic reduction in his salary, enough for Golden State to potentially get in on the bidding.
