Golden State Warriors’ targets: Thon Maker

I’ll be brutally honest, any hope of Thon Maker reaching his potential ceiling is basically out of the window at this point. While yes, he’s only 24 years old, Maker just hasn’t shown any indication he is going to make a leap in development.

This shouldn’t stop the Golden State Warriors from at least considering the seven-footer, though. Maker might not be the most coordinated player, or the most athletic, or the best decision-maker… but he is still taller than everyone else on the floor.

Maker appeared in eight games for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season and was part of some odd lineups that featured him, Larry Nance Jr. and Andre Drummond. These freakishly tall rotations were successful in bursts and Maker was a pleasant surprise at times – but his weaknesses still overshadowed his strengths.

The main reason Golden State should think about signing Maker is his size. Their frontcourt depth is already weak and with James Wiseman’s recent meniscus tear they will be even shorter at this position.

Maker could be helpful in spurts thanks to his size and (decent) mobility for a player of his stature.
