Stephen Curry has given his all to the Golden State Warriors and accomplished the unthinkable. The front office owes it to him to build another contender before he’s out of his prime.

The Golden State Warriors front office needs to be doing everything in their power to build another contender around Stephen Curry.

When Curry was drafted, the Warriors were one of the league’s laughingstocks. In a prophetic tweet, a young Curry promised the fan base he would figure it out. Roughly a decade later, Curry has done more than just figure it out – he’s transformed the Dubs to a global powerhouse.

On Monday night, Curry surpassed Wilt Chamberlain to become the franchise’s leading scorer. It’s been a legendary run for Curry and there’s no reason the front office should risk wasting any more years of his prime.

Curry is arguably having the best scoring season of his career, posting an unreal 38.4 points on 54/46/90 shooting splits over his last seven games. During this run, the Dubs have gone just 4-3, struggling to win games on a nightly basis.

The weak supporting cast won’t be fixed with the return of Klay Thompson, though it will certainly help. The front office must have the guts to make a move in the offseason. With the potential for multiple draft picks and a number of young assets – there’s no reason the Dubs can’t swing for a package of useful players or a star.

Normally, you wouldn’t want to place all of your eggs in one basket. Selling your future and going all-in for a title in the next few years is a risky, risky move. However, Curry alone has done enough to warrant going for broke – without even mentioning the legacies of Thompson and Draymond Green.

The Dub’s front office owes it to Curry not to waste his last few prime seasons by playing the middle and attempting to build the next generation of Dubs basketball at the cost of Curry’s championship window.
