Why Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest Golden State Warrior of all-time

Wilt Chamberlain made it to the All-Star game every single time that he played over 70 games in a season.

Chamberlain was easily the most dominant big man of his era, but in the current day, it’s not often that people respect the 60s game. That said, no one should consider Chamberlain’s numbers as anything but a rare feat that may never happen again.

The 7-foot-1 center averaged 50.4 points per game as a Warrior one season. That’s why Curry, after ten-plus years in the league, just passed Chamberlain who played five-and-a-half seasons with the Warriors franchise.

While with the Warriors, Chamberlain had six All-Star appearances (counting the half-season). Despite making the playoffs four times and averaging over 30 points per game in each of those trips, Chamberlain still didn’t bring the Bay Area a title.

That may be what sets him and Curry apart. Chamberlain should go down as an all-time great center, and his numbers showcase just that.

But, for a franchise, ascending to become the best player of all time should result in some title runs. Chamberlain has two rings, one with Los Angeles and the other with Philadelphia after the Warriors traded him to the Sixers. He just didn’t manage to win any with the Warriors.

Chamberlain was a tremendous center, and he’s among the most dominant players in league history. For now, until proven otherwise and maybe with a little era and recency bias in there, I’d have to say Curry is the best Warrior of all time, a take that will easily muster up some hate.
