It’s not 100 percent official, but with a recent injury to James Wiseman, it’s likely his rookie season with the Golden State Warriors has come to an end.

Wiseman suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee during a game against the Houston Rockets. With the playoffs roughly a month away (and the Warriors outside of the postseason picture) it seems unlikely Wiseman will make a return to the floor this season.

James Wiseman’s rookie season may have come to an abrupt end. Here are three takeaways for the Golden State Warriors’ youngin’.

If this is the end, how did Wiseman do? The No. 2 overall pick entered the league with lofty expectations, drawing comparisons to David Robinson and Chris Bosh. It didn’t help that he’d be joining a team with playoff aspirations like the Warriors – placing an uncommon responsibility on Wiseman’s shoulders.

Not to spoil the rest of this article but… Wiseman could have been better. He didn’t exactly shock the world or run away with the Rookie of the Year Award like we thought he might. Instead, his peers such as Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and Tyrese Haliburton all outshined Wiseman.

However, I’m a firm believer in judging a young player by the flashes of potential they show. In this case, Wiseman has some reason for optimism. Let’s look at three takeaways we can make from the big fella’s rookie season.
