Two-time MVP Stephen Curry dropped 53 points against the Denver Nuggets. He needed just 19 to pass Wilt Chamberlain as the top scorer in franchise history, and he did that in the first half with ease.

Curry is a three-time champion. He’s a two-time MVP. He’s the league’s only unanimous MVP. On top of that, he’s been the steals leader for a season as well. What will ultimately define his career will be his NBA-changing shooting.

Stephen Curry is going to be a top-ten player of all-time when it’s all said and done, and ESPN personality and former NBA center Kendrick Perkins agrees.

Kendrick Perkins played with many greatest throughout his time in the NBA. Spending time with Paul Pierce‘s Celtics and Kevin Durant‘s Thunder, Perkins knows talent, and he understands the level that Stephen Curry has been playing at.

Curry is averaging over 35 points per game over his last ten games, easily the most in the NBA. While even Jeremy Lin could go off for a short period of time, Curry’s been doing it for the past six seasons.

He’s been that good, and with three titles to his name as well, it’s time to start talking about where Curry is among the best in NBA history. While many wouldn’t call Curry a top-five player, he should be a consensus top-ten player in league history.

That’s the area he’ll fall in for Perk.

"“When it’s all said and done, when Steph Curry retires, somebody on the top 10 all-time great list is gonna move out the way because when [Curry] retires, he’s gonna be a top-10 player of all-time,” Perkins said on ESPN’s First Take."

Here’s a bit more behind his take.

Curry has been the league on notice, but sadly his Warriors are still under .500. With what should be a successful road trip starting last night against the Thunder, Golden State could bounce back up behind the ultra-hot Curry.

As for his all-time position, many will still put LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan in their top three. Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar start to fill out the next several spots. It’s understandable to have Curry in that range as well.

Curry does have one thing that LeBron and Jordan never will, and that’s his unanimous MVP season.

While it may not be an all-time great season, Curry captained the best regular-season team in league history. Just the next season they bounced back from a Finals defeat with the signing of Kevin Durant, making them arguably the most talented roster in NBA history.
