Golden State Warriors to likely not return: Kent Bazemore

It’ll be interesting to see if Kent Bazemore is back next season. He’s had a rough season, much like Mulder. Both have been in and out of head coach Steve Kerr‘s rotation this season.

Bazemore has found himself in the starting lineup now with Kelly Oubre Jr. out. Oubre Jr.’s return should signal Bazemore heading back to the bench, but his play over the last few games has still been a positive.

He’s averaging 6.4 points per game and shooting a career-high 44.7 percent from the field. Also notching over 40 percent shooting from deep, it’s clear Bazemore is finding his rhythm in the Bay Area. The 6-foot-4 guard will be 32 by the start of next season.

With Damion Lee on the bench and the return of Klay Thompson along with another first-round pick likely coming to the organization, Bazemore may permanently find himself out of the rotation. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t expect him to re-sign.

Like with Alec Burks, he’s played well enough to head elsewhere and continue his career as the Warriors likely won’t have the space for him to thrive. Keeping Bazemore, Lee, and Mulder on the second unit just doesn’t make sense.
