How Stephen Curry is unguardable: He’s doing it off the dribble

We touched on this in the last slide, but it’s extremely important to note.

It’s not just from three-point land that Curry has been efficient. He’s also improved as a scorer within the arc, and he’s doing it more off the dribble as well. Curry is taking over 47 percent of his shots after taking at least three dribbles.

That’s a huge amount of his attempts that’s he’s been created either with a screen or just his unmatched handles. On both shots in which he’s taken between 3-6 dribbles and seven or more dribbles, Curry is shooting over 50 percent.

For reference, Lillard, who often draws comparisons to Curry, takes over 68 percent of his shots after three dribbles. On both the ranges noted above, he shoots 43 percent or under. On the season, he’s at 44 percent from the field. It’s difficult to be better off the dribble.

It’s not easy to do what Curry has been doing, and his efficiency as a scorer is one huge reason why he’s taken his game to the next level. He’s scoring at least ten points per game off this type of shot.

While I doubt that’s the most in the league, combining his efficiency and the amount along with his size at 6-foot-3 shows just how incredible of a scorer he has become.
