Golden State Warriors player that could be traded: Kevon Looney

One of the lone Warriors that is not on a minimum salary is center Kevon Looney. Looney has struggled to stay healthy this season and played just 20 games last season. He’s appeared in 46 games this season.

Compared to what he did against the Rockets in the 2019 postseason, Looney hasn’t been that great. He was meant to be a great offensive rebounder and a capable defender. Instead, he’s struggled to stay and healthy and hasn’t necessarily been awarded many minutes.

The Dubs drafted James Wiseman and that hurt Looney’s stock. Looney is averaging 3.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. With that in mind, he should exercise his player option which would mean that Golden State will get him back at just over $5 million per year.

Trading him to free up that cap for a team with four max-value players should be a move the Warriors front office is interested in making. Now, the team would have Wiseman as their lone big man, so they’d have to add more talent in their frontcourt.
