Golden State Warriors player that could be traded: Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins has played well this season. By all means, he’s exceeded expectations. His defense has surprisingly won the Warriors games which has been a huge positive for a team that lost two-way star Klay Thompson.

Parting ways with Wiggins wouldn’t be necessarily about him but rather his contract. Wiggins is on a max deal and is set to make over $31.5 million next season. That will handicap the Warriors in free agency.

Wiggins has averaged 18.1 points per game, and he’s shooting a career-high 47.5 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from deep. While he could be a more volume scoring threat as he’s shown an ability to get over 20 points per game, Wiggins has served his role with the franchise.

Getting off that contract wouldn’t be easy, but if the Warriors want to add talent to this team aside from just watching Thompson return to full strength, they may have to part ways with the 26-year-old.

The Warriors should have no qualms with retaining all three of these players, but there’s also ample reason as to why they could be traded this offseason.
