Looking ahead to next season, the Golden State Warriors will have to get creative in restructuring this roster to ensure they maximize their chances at competing for another title.

Their two best options of doing so include the upcoming NBA Draft and Free Agency, the latter of which has formally been announced to start on August 2 while official signings can happen on August 6.

The date is set for NBA Free Agency and the Golden State Warriors should be one of the most active teams in the association.

The most pressing question the Warriors will face surrounds Kelly Oubre. They made a bold decision not to move him at the trade deadline this year as he poses a high flight risk in the offseason.

Oubre’s improvements as a 3-and-D player have come with a price, one the Dubs might not be able to match if he truly garners interest on the market. Losing Oubre would be a huge blow to the Warriors’ short-term and long-term success.

There is still a possibility Oubre could be traded, however. A sign-and-trade is never off the table and the Dubs front office would certainly look to receive something in return if this is how things play out.

Aside from Oubre, the Dubs will be pretty tight in terms of cap space. There isn’t much wiggle room to make any notable moves with monster contracts like Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins eating up all of their cap.

For this reason, it’s much more likely we see the Dubs make minor trades such as flipping Kent Bazemore, Eric Paschall or Kevon Looney in exchange for more assets or simply just to gain financial freedom.

The Warriors won’t be striking gold this summer like they have in the past. Instead, their focus should be on gaining quality role players who can help bolster the second unit and provide enough support for another run at a title.
