Golden State Warriors player with the most to prove: Jordan Poole
This is the second straight season that a G-League stint helped ignite confidence in Jordan Poole. The second-year former first-round pick has played well since return, but he’s cooled since a ten-game stretch where he averaged 19.7 points per game.
He is up to 10.8 on the season which is above his 8.8 per game as well. That’s impressive considering most players with ample opportunity last season like Mychal Mulder and Damion Lee have seen their numbers slashed.
Since Poole’s electric stretch of play, he’s averaged 10.0 points in 20.0 minutes per game. He’s back to shooting under 37 percent from the field too. Poole needs to find his rhythm and prove he’s worth that backup point guard role.
Poole has shot just 6-for-26 from deep over the team’s last four games. He’s been extremely streaky, and that’s not a good trait to have. Consistency would be great for Poole, and he can showcase that over the last month.
He’ll get the minutes, and this could be a crucial stretch of play for his future. Hopefully, he makes the most of it.
