Golden State Warriors have been a top-10 team as of late

The Golden State Warriors didn’t exactly begin the 2020-21 NBA season as they planned. Klay Thompson’s offseason injury halted any hope of winning a title and the Dubs dropped their first two games by a combined total of 65 points.
Yes, the first few months of the season were rough. Inconsistency hung over the team as Stephen Curry was the only member of the team to score on a routine basis. Streaky shooting from Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins, combined with a stumbling James Wiseman and an ever-rotating supporting cast made the Dubs a bottom-tier team.
Entering the final stretch of the season, the Warriors sit at just 31-30 — an underwhelming record to say the least. Yet, they’ve been playing their best basketball as of late and rank as one of the NBA’s best teams recently.
It’s been a shaky season, but the Golden State Warriors have emerged as a top-10 team in the NBA over the last few weeks.
Over their last 10 games, the Warriors are 7-3 with big victories over the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets (Twice). This makes them tied for the fourth-best record in the league during this time, behind only the New York Knicks, LA Clippers and Atlanta Hawks who all went 9-1.
The Warriors have been scoring the fifth-most points (118.9 per game) and drilling the second-most 3-pointers (16.0 per game) while holding a top-five Offensive and Defensive Rating across the NBA during this stretch.
Their ability to play both ends of the floor has been a key reason the Dubs are hitting their stride. The perimeter rotation of Wiggins, Oubre, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Eric Paschall, Kent Bazemore and Draymond Green has been relentless harassing opposing ball handlers. Wiggins, in particular, continues to rank near the top of the league in contests per game.
This nonstop hustle has become the Warriors’ identity. Nonetheless, Curry is still the driving force behind their offense. He’s had a historic month of April, averaging 38.2 points, on 53/47/92 shooting splits. He’s scored 30+ in all but one of his last 12 games and is rising up the MVP standings quickly.
And, the Dubs’ schedule only gets easier from here. They face only a few threats as they break for the final run to the NBA Play-In tournament. After that, it’s clear sailing to the Playoffs. Whether they can compete at all against the top-seeds is yet to be seen but their late-season surge is a great sign of what’s to come.
