How long could JTA’s time with the Warriors  be

As he continues to prove his worth down the stretch and hopefully into the playoffs, the questions begin to turn to the future. The Warriors should be able to keep him if they want, but the question is how much they value him.

Depending on how some moves may shake out, the Dubs will still have a stable core around Steph, Klay, Draymond and any youth that don’t find themselves becoming trade bait. Though the recent draft record of the Warriors catches some flak, it’s the inability to find quality role players from the bargain bin that has really hurt them.

JTA gives them the chance to lock down an experienced vet with boundless enthusiasm, energy and a skillset that perfectly complements the system.

It’s possible the Warriors have to incorporate one or two more lottery picks onto the roster next year, and a player who moves the ball and plays within his role makes him a great complement to developing players.

This season proved more than ever that the next man up has to be ready. As injuries worked their way down the roster to players that weren’t ready for the show, JTA proved he can be an asset to the bench now and in the future.

The goal for this offseason should be to bring in as many smart, capable role players as possible to complement the aging core while not interfering with youth development.

The Warriors cannot afford a third straight year of relying on young unknowns to produce for a team that still has aspirations of re-establishing their dynasty, and it has to be carefully built one brick at a time.
