Why the Warriors won’t be a threat: They lack depth

The Golden State Warriors lack all types of depth, and it’s going to cause them issues. The primary cause of their problems will come in the frontcourt. Even when James Wiseman was healthy, the duo of Kevon Looney and Wiseman wouldn’t have held strong in the playoffs.

Wiseman fouled too often, and while he was strong offensively, he didn’t quite fully develop as a rim protector as a rookie. It won’t matter as he’s out for the season. The Warriors now have Juan Toscano-Anderson and Looney, both undersized players at center.

The Dubs also don’t have a great backup at point guard as Jordan Poole, who is more of a traditional shooting guard, has been running the show. Nico Mannion isn’t ready to take that next step and the team dealt Brad Wanamaker to Charlotte.

At the two and three, the Warriors are fine.

Although Eric Paschall hasn’t played since April 2, his return will give a bit more competence to the team’s frontcourt. Nonetheless, not having a veteran, versatile center is going to hurt this team in the playoffs.
