Golden State Warrior that hasn’t met expectations: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre Jr. always seems to crack most of our lists, but it’s not that he hasn’t played well. Rather, it’s just that the ceiling of Oubre Jr. just seems so high and he consistently doesn’t quite get there.

After being out several games with wrist soreness, Oubre Jr. returned to the court, but he was placed with the second unit. He’s actually played very well, finding more of a rhythm as a slasher and driver than just a spot-up shooter.

Oubre Jr. was out again against the Wolves, but he’s on this list more for both his performances during the season and his ten-point game against Dallas. The 25-year-old was just 2-for-10 from the field in 23 minutes against the Mavericks.

Personally, while Wiggins has shown more, I think Oubre Jr. is the second-best pure scorer on this team. He must get going for them to have a chance in the play-in tournament, and so far this season, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, averaging under 16 points per game.

He was on a nice run with 24, 23, and 19 in the three games before Dallas, so hopefully, he can continue that streak when he gets back in the near future.
