After avoiding a potentially catastrophic loss to the Houston Rockets via a dominant third quarter, the Golden State Warriors will prepare for an important stretch of games which includes a back-to-back against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Sadly, they’ll likely be without shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. Despite coming back and playing through a wrist injury for five games, Oubre Jr. is sidelined, and it could result in him being shut down for the season.

The Golden State Warriors are currently the Stephen Curry show, but they have several players also fighting for their NBA lives.

Oubre Jr. hasn’t been ruled out for the season quite yet, but the Warriors have already felt the pain of a condensed season as rookie James Wiseman sustained a season-ending injury earlier in the year. Wiseman’s injury has left the Warriors shorthanded at center.

That’s forced players to step up.

With four max-value contracts, the Golden State Warriors don’t have many players with guaranteed deals for next season. Players are competing not only for their next contract but to stay in the league at all.

That said, let’s dive into five players currently playing for their next contract, a few of which may play well enough to return to the Bay Area.
