Warriors player competing for his next contract: Mychal Mulder

Just like with JTA, Mulder’s opportunity hasn’t quite been the same. But, to be fair, JTA has size on his side, and Mulder doesn’t.

With the addition of Bazemore this past offseason, Mulder hasn’t been able to get into the rotation when the team is at full strength. Now, with Oubre Jr. out, he’s getting more minutes behind Bazemore, and he’s starting to show why he should’ve gotten them all along.

Bazemore and Oubre Jr. both missed the team’s blowout loss to Dallas. In that game, Mulder dropped 26 points. Over his last five, a stretch in which the team has gone 3-2, Mulder has averaged 15.8 points per game and shot 46 percent from deep.

While it’d be nice to see him back in the Bay Area, Mulder may be able to get a solid deal elsewhere, especially given how well he’s shot the ball when given extended minutes. Mulder’s shooting 39 percent from deep on the season.

He should be in the rotation the remainder of the season, but if Oubre Jr. returns, the potential for Mulder to continue getting a few quarters a game just won’t be there. Nonetheless, he’s proven enough to stay in the league for at least a few more years.
