Well, it has been an interesting few days for the NBA world. The Play-In format has been under heavy scrutiny since LeBron James voiced his disdain for whoever came up with the idea. However, the league has to be salivating at the thought of the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors clashing before the official playoffs even begin.

If you’re still unfamiliar with the Play-In Tournament, here is a brief explanation:

It’s not hard to see why the new format is so controversial. A team who worked hard all year long for the seventh seed could potentially lose their spot to the 10th seed over the course of two games.

And yet, the Play-In is likely here to stay. That is, despite some rumblings from the NBA’s best stars, there’s no denying its popularity with the fans. Anyone who loves basketball will be tuned in to watch the Lakers and Warriors face elimination.

Whether you like it or not, the Play-In is here to stay. Let’s break down the pros and cons of this format and how it impacts the Golden State Warriors.

Nevertheless, all of this discourse has got me thinking — is the Play-In actually a good idea? While I think the answer is an emphatic yes, it’s worth breaking down some of the pros and cons of this new format.
