Warriors player the team may not be able to re-sign: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre Jr.’s time in Golden State may already be over as he’s reportedly fractured his palm and has a torn ligament in his wrist as well. Oubre Jr. may be able to play through the pain with a brace as seen in the photo above.

This season hasn’t been the best for the 25-year-old Oubre Jr. He’s still the team’s third-leading scorer though, averaging 15.4 points per game, down from 18.7 per game a season ago. Oubre Jr. was traded to the Warriors after news broke of Klay Thompson’s injury.

Oubre Jr. hasn’t been the same caliber three-point shooter. Despite averaging 1.6 triples per game, he’s knocking down under 32 percent of his attempts, down from over 35 percent a season ago. Given what he’s shown as a competitor and athlete, he’ll get a long-term deal somewhere.

Even if he doesn’t return this season, he’ll lock in an eight-figure deal this offseason.

He’s good enough to be a third option on a contending team. It was clear he has a sky-high ceiling after dropping 40 on Dallas earlier this season, and some teams may pay a premium for that young talent.

While the hope is for JTA to be back, there’s no denying the team may roll into next season without OUbre Jr. or Bazemore, especially considering the potential that Mychal Mulder and Damion Lee possess along with the expected return of Thompson.
