Stephen Curry has four of the top five shooting seasons in league history
The Golden State Warriors have been blessed by one of the best shooting seasons in NBA history from Stephen Curry. Curry’s taking a career-high 12.4 threes per game which ranks second to James Harden’s 2018-2019 season, in which he took 13.2.
However, there’s a big percentage difference there. Curry is shooting 42.6 percent from deep while James Harden was at just under 37 percent from downtown. Curry’s 307 made triples already ranks in the top five in NBA history
Two-time MVP Stephen Curry has been on first over the last 40 days, and three-point shooting has been the crux behind his immense success.
It’s just awing how good Curry has been. What sets him apart is that he can do so much more than just shoot. Curry’s also averaging 5.7 assists per game, so he’s made sure to get his teammates involved as well.
Almost all of this starts because he has been taking care of his body and able to stay on the court. Equally as important is the fact that his handles have evolved to both get into the lane when defenders press on him and dance around to his spot when they give him any space.
Curry’s hit 307 triples this season. He’ll likely pass his 324 total from the 2016-2017 season. However, he’ll need to keep the show going until the very end of the season to pass the 354 he drilled during the 2018-2019 season.
What’s insane to think about is although Curry’s shooting the most triples per game of his career, he won’t even get close to topping the 402 threes he hit during his MVP campaign in 2016.
Now, he will play at least 15 fewer games, so he could’ve gotten there had the schedule not been reduced due to Covid-19. Regardless, he’ll write his name down in history in a season in which he’ll play under 65 games.
That’s incredible.
Curry has four of the top-five shooting seasons in league history. While we already knew he was the best to ever shoot the ball, it’s a nice little reminder about how he’s managed to deal with injuries yet keep the longevity in his career.
Aiming for his second scoring title this season, Curry, even at 33, could be getting better, and that’s something to marvel at.
