The Golden State Warriors have now won two straight, moving into 8th place in the Western Conference and while they destroyed the Oklahoma City Thunder in both games, Stephen Curry has erupted to lead the way.

He scored 49 points last night. Curry is averaging the most points per game in the NBA, barely edging out Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal, and is on his way to becoming the scoring leader for the second time in his legendary career.

A couple of legends on the NBA on TNT, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal crew agreed that Stephen Curry is the best player in the NBA right now.

The 6-foot-3 Curry is averaging 31.6 points per game, and after Beal’s 50 spot against the Indiana Pacers, he may need to continue to be dominant over the Dubs last four games in order to secure the title.

Curry has been largely underrated throughout his career. There have been a plethora of reasons why, but in the short term, it’s been because, after setting the regular-season wins record, the team went out and added Kevin Durant. Durant in the Bay Area hurt Curry’s usage.

This season, without Durant or Klay Thompson and having stayed healthy, Curry has fully unlocked his game, and those that cover the NBA on a full-time basis have started to take note of just how good the two-time MVP has been.

“This guy right here the best player in the league. Y’all tripping. Steph Curry the best player in the league,” Shaq said Thursday according to NBC Sports’ Alex Didion. Shaq wasn’t the only one that felt this way.

“Shaq’s statement also got agreement from his fellow NBA on TNT analysts, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley,” Didion continued with. Not in the MVP conversation, this is at least some verification that he’s playing at the highest level in the league right now.

With the Warriors’ offense running through Curry and Draymond Green understanding how to get him the ball, Golden State has been able to rattle off wins, and earlier this season, they were able to down some of the league’s best teams like the Clippers and Jazz.

The problem is that Curry will need to have these absolutely killer games on a much more consistent basis. A couple of poor shooting nights in the playoffs will send the Warriors home. This team fully relies on Curry, especially with Kelly Oubre Jr. out.

Thankfully, they’re in good hands as Stephen Curry is the league’s best player right now. Scoring the most in the league and doing the most for his team, one that will be a contender solely thanks to him, Curry won’t top Nikola Jokic in the MVP conversation.
