Potential suitor for Warriors guard Kelly Oubre Jr.: Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets have two young, dynamic guards. Both Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball are more traditional point guards though, and the offense runs through them.

As we’ve seen over the last stint which Kelly Oubre Jr. played through wrist soreness, he could be terrific in an offense that is captained by a traditional point guard. Oubre Jr. is his best when he’s cutting off the ball.

He topped his season average over the five-game stint which he had that soreness, not shooting as much from deep. While he may come off the bench for the Hornets, he would make a good addition as a playmaker and defender.

The Hornets have made strikes with their franchise over the past few seasons. Ball was a home-run pick for them. Now a capable team, they may start to intrigue players like Oubre Jr., especially if they offer a high-value contract like he’ll expect an organization to.

Oubre Jr. is averaging 32.6 percent from deep on his career, so playing alongside a pass-first point guard should be seen as a positive as well. On paper, this would be a good fit for both sides.
