Potential suitor for Warriors guard Kelly Oubre Jr.: Oklahoma City Thunder

Sam Presti’s Oklahoma City Thunder have accumulated an insane stockpile of draft picks. That’s great and all, but they’re going to have salary cap to spare since most of their players have been recently drafted.

That will open up space for the team to offer big-time money to Kelly Oubre Jr.

Unfortunately for OKC, the Thunder haven’t been a top-tier team since Russell Westbrook left. While Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did make a lethal duo last season, the team moved on from Paul as they clearly weren’t a championship-caliber organization.

Like a handful of teams, the Thunder are trying to find the future of their franchise, and Oubre Jr. could be a part of the puzzle, especially after they traded Hamidou Diallo.

Oubre Jr. is just 25, as we’ve noted. He has the length of a full five-year contract in which he’ll have both his athleticism and energy at his disposal.

Combine that with an ultra-high ceiling if he can improve his shooting, and he would make a great sidekick to SGA. The Thunder could then focus on adding a big man like Evan Mobley to fill out their future.
