Potential suitor for Warriors guard Kelly Oubre Jr.: New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are the No. 1 team that should consider signing Kelly Oubre Jr. A big city for a big-time personality just makes sense. The Knicks haven’t been giving out many long-term deals, seemingly in hope to land a premier free agent.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant opted to head to Brooklyn during the 2019 offseason while Kawhi Leonard is expected to re-sign in Los Angeles this offseason. The Knicks don’t care about tanking anymore as Julius Randle has drastically improved his play and have them in playoff contention.

Building upon this success is the next step, and Kelly Oubre Jr. could be a player they add to help bring that energy and excitement back to the Big Apple. With a defensive-minded head coach like Tom Thibodeau, Oubre Jr. would be the perfect addition.

At full strength, that roster is no joke. Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle, and RJ Barrett in the frontcourt with Immanuel Quickley and Derrick Rose in the backcourt is a good, young compilation of players. There are more than just those five as well.

That said, Oubre Jr. isn’t a big enough name to get max offers, but he could be just the up-and-comer that the Knicks need to get the hype back into Madison Square Garden.
