Back-to-back wins over the top teams in the West have everyone asking, is this the second coming of the ‘We Believe’ Golden State Warriors? Is this squad capable of pulling off an early upset?

It has been difficult to gauge how good this Warriors team is. In many ways, they are the most hit-or-miss squad in the NBA. On any given night, they vary from being legitimate contenders to a lottery-bound band of misfits.

Consistency has been their weakness. Win streaks are quickly followed up by embarrassing losses as this season has had plenty of twists and turns. And yet, the team is beginning to gain momentum heading into the postseason.

The Golden State Warriors are peaking at just the right moment and they might be able to upset someone in round one of the NBA Playoffs.

The Warriors have won 7-of-their-last-10 and have vaulted themselves into the eighth seed. They hold a thin lead over the Memphis Grizzlies but will have a chance to solidify their position on the final night of the season in a game against the Grizzlies themselves.

If all holds up, the Warriors will enter the Play-In with a two-game cushion. Assuming they take care of business, the Dubs will punch their tickets to the Playoffs and head into round one with enough momentum to potentially carry an upset.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s stop and break down why the Dubs have been playing so well as of late. Is a first-round upset really possible?
