Golden State Warriors potential free-agent target: Patty Mills

It feels like Patty Mills has been a staple of the San Antonio Spurs second unit for a decade. He’s played with the Popovich-led franchise since the 2011-2012 season. In that time, he’s started under 60 games.

This season has been among his best though, averaging double figures for the fifth time in his career.

Experience is on his side and so is shooting as the Australian native hits 2.4 threes per game. It’s even more impressive when you note that he’s nearing 38 percent from deep. He’s at 38.8 percent from three on his career.

That’s the type of player the Warriors should want to bring in. Mills has been to two NBA Finals, helping the Spurs win one of them. He averaged over 10 points per game and over 55 percent from deep in that series.

He’s a gritty, smart, and experienced player. Hopefully, another title is something he has a desire for because it’d be one of the main reasons he’d make the trip to the Bay Area. It’s a perfect target if the Dubs can lure him to Golden State.
