Both LeBron James and Ja Morant agree: Stephen Curry is the MVP

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like two-time MVP Stephen Curry is going to snag his third piece of hardware for being the league’s Most Valuable Player. While the MVP award has yet to be officially named, most think Denver center Nikola Jokic has it all but wrapped up.

Not everyone agrees with the public and many analysts though. While the Joker has played at an elite level, both efficiency-wise and productivity-wise, Curry has taken his game to the next level as well, recently claiming the league’s scoring title.

The Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry isn’t the frontrunner for MVP, but a few big-time names think he should be.

In a quest for his second scoring title, Curry helped Golden State snag the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference. They were outside the top-eight seeds for most of the second half of the season.

They’ll be taking on the Los Angeles Lakers in the play-in tournament with a chance at a dream scenario in which they’d take on the Suns and then possibly the Blazers or Nuggets. However, Curry can do nothing else to strengthen his resume.

Historically, the panelists have oftentimes decided who the MVP is based on personal feats and team accomplishments.

Jokic has both of those as his Nuggets finished fourth in the West. Curry gets set behind a bit, knowing his Dubs were No. 8. Joel Embiid also may have a say as his Sixers finish at the top of the Eastern Conference.

But, if you ask Memphis star guard Ja Morant or Lakers superstar LeBron James, they both think Curry should be the league’s MVP which is high praise coming from a few well-known players that have both seen the Chef in action many times this season.

Here’s how Morant phrased it.

In a game for the No. 8 spot, the Warriors played the Grizzlies. Curry dropped 46 and 9 triples on Morant’s Griz. After that, the second-year stud then knew first-hand just how dynamic Curry has been.

As for LeBron, here’s how he phrased his praise for Curry.

Now, LeBron may just be getting on Curry’s good side. A little recruit for when Curry is a free agent in 2022 never hurts. James will have to take on who he thinks is MVP later today. That said, James has a great point.

Curry has single-handedly led the Warriors, averaging over 31 points per game. He’s had a historic season from deep, and hopefully, Curry can keep that up as the team heads into the postseason. His claim to MVP may be all but gone, but the Warriors chances in the playoffs aren’t.

It’ll still be quite some time before we get to see if Stephen Curry actually isn’t the league’s MVP, but I wouldn’t bet that he gets the honor.
