The ending of the 2020-21 NBA season didn’t go as planned for the Golden State Warriors. A strong stretch of games helped them gain momentum to finish the regular season and a dominant win against Memphis on the final night of the season pushed them to eighth in the West.

We all know what happened next. The NBA Play-In Tournament began and the Dubs fumbled their opportunity to reach the playoffs. In a theme that was present all year long, the Warriors supporting cast was wildly inconsistent and they played up (or down) to their competition.

It is all over, the Golden State Warriors narrowly missed the NBA Playoffs and will head back to the lab to figure out what is next.

This season hurt. It was a heartbreaking way to drop out of the playoff picture. And, dropping out of the postseason will come with some direct implications. Some of which are beneficial. Others, not so much.

While everyone is ready to put this last season behind us and look ahead to the future, we have to discuss how missing the playoffs will impact what the Dubs do next. Here are three implications of losing the Play-In.
