Golden State Warriors upped their NBA Draft capital

There is a clear benefit from missing the NBA Playoffs. By dropping out of the postseason, the Dubs have jumped to 14th in the Draft Lottery odds, giving them a two percent chance at a top-four pick.

It is small, I know, but it is better than nothing. A two percent chance at a top-four pick and a 0.5 percent opportunity to land the No. 1 overall pick is certainly something. Regardless, the Dubs will have a sure-fire pick in the lottery this summer.

This goes along with the potential to earn the Minnesota Timberwolves pick, which currently sits at just a 30 percent chance of landing in the top three. If it falls any deeper in the order, the Dubs obtain the rights to this pick.

This gives the Warriors a long shot at having two picks in the top-five of the lottery, and a fairly decent shot at just having two picks in the lottery, which is valuable for a number of reasons. In addition to giving them leverage in potential trades, the Warriors can simply select a few young prospects to join their roster.
