Golden State Warriors should not blow this team up. Not yet.

Are the Golden State Warriors wasting Stephen Curry‘s talent?

In the mind of some, they may be, but the team has done everything possible to surround him with talent. It was impossible to predict Kelly Oubre Jr. and James Wiseman‘s injury. Even the second season-ending injury to Klay Thompson couldn’t have been predicted.

The Golden State Warriors lost two straight games in the play-in tournament, and big-time analysts are already calling for them to blow it up.

The Dubs are doing all they can within their financial power, and they came up short this seaosn. As we saw with LeBron James‘ first season with the Lakers, it happens.

Everything doesn’t always go as planned, but there’s no doubt about the future of the franchise. It’d be shocking to see Golden State blow it up, but national analysts beg to differ as they’re ready to move on from the Warriors dynasty.

"“I look at them now and think ‘Steph is way too good to just linger with Golden State,'” Colin Cowherd said."

Here’s the link to the entire segment.

The Warriors are not done, and while Stephen Curry is a free agent next offseason, all indications are that the two sides will be able to work something out. Considering Curry is coming off his second scoring title, he’ll likely be in for another big payday.

That said, blowing it up starts with Curry, and Cowherd is at least correct in the sense that the Warriors could get a massive return for him. Stars and picks don’t necessarily win titles though, especially when the Warriors are coming off a draft in which they had a top-two pick.

Trading Klay Thompson and Draymond Green on top of Curry could result in a completely altered franchise and one that may not contend for years to come. That’s now what this organization is about.

Even this past season, they gave Curry all the pieces he needed to find some form of success. As long as he’s at the top of his game, I’d expect them to continue to put the necessary chips around him.

While they may never be the Dub Nation that they were with Kevin Durant on the roster, getting back to that title-winning 2014-2015 roster is certainly a possibility. Hopefully, that will be their goal this offseason, especially with Klay Thompson set to finally return next season.

The Warriors will have the options at their disposal, but blowing it up shouldn’t be one they truly consider.
