Golden State Warriors catalyst that will improve roster: Klay Thompson’s return

While crossing our fingers, there’s hope that Klay Thompson will return next season. While around this time last season we said the same thing regarding the 2020-2021 season, let’s hope this time it is different.

Thompson’s return would be huge for Golden State. He is a five-time All-Star. He is one of the best defensive shooting guards in the NBA. But, on top of both of those, he’s arguably the best possible running mate for Stephen Curry.

Thompson, an elite shooter, averaged over 20 points per game for five straight seasons prior to sustaining a torn ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. He then ruptured his Achilles prior to the start of this past season.

While there’s no denying that he may not be the same athlete as he was, Thompson’s return should bring in a top-tier floor spacer.

With Kelly Oubre Jr. likely out given his free-agency status and the Warriors cap space, Thompson’s return will be even more crucial as the options behind him will become limited next season.

Thompson is the main catalyst for creating a title-contending team in Golden State.
