Golden State Warriors: Pass or draft these 6 NBA Draft prospects

Warriors potential NBA prospect — Pass: Davion Mitchell

Some nights I wake up in a cold sweat imagining a world where the Warriors draft Mitchell, and with the 6th pick no less. Were it two years ago where the Warriors had to find talent in the late 20s, he would be ideal.

His strong point-of-attack defense and efficiency as a spot-up shooter make him a fantastic complementary piece to Steph Curry in the backcourt, and one who could contribute right away. But his rise up the draft boards means he will likely go in or near the lottery.

Mitchell should be a contributing rotation player out of the gate because of his polish and experience.

But that comes with being almost 23 years old when the draft comes around. He’s at least several years older than any other prospect being considered in the top 15, therefore much further along in his developmental curve.

It helps to think about what any 19-year-old player will be 3 years from now compared to what Davion is right now. That’s what has to be taken into account when drafting in the lottery.
