Golden State Warriors player unlikely to return: Mychal Mulder

The Warriors shooting guard rotation next season is going to look drastically different. Right now, they have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson hopefully running their backcourt. Aside from those two, the only player locked into a role will be Jordan Poole.

Mulder, Bazemore, Lee, or even Oubre Jr. if he somehow returns aren’t necessarily locked into roles. Bazemore and Oubre Jr. are both free agents while Mulder and Lee are on non-guaranteed deals that could be nixed by the team.

Mulder played well for parts of the season, but as with Bazemore, he was both in and out of the rotation at times, more on the outside looking in. With the missed time by Oubre Jr. and Lee, Mulder was also given a major increase in minutes.

He thrived with the added time. Over the team’s last 13 games, he averaged 12.9 points per game and shot 43.6 percent from deep.

Primarily used as a sniper, Mulder could easily be back next season, but that inbound talent, which could be in the form of Moses Moody or a player of his skill set, could also limit his minutes and use.

Mulder has, at the very least, shown that he can play at an NBA level and should be scooped up if he doesn’t return to Golden State.
