Golden State Warriors player unlikely to return: Damion Lee
The Golden State Warriors are going to have limited roles on the roster next season, and Lee may not be as included as he could be elsewhere. While he’s on a non-guaranteed deal, he could easily be part of a sign-and-trade package or could be a casualty of the two lottery picks.
Now, Lee does have ties to the franchise and did have at least one game-winning shot this past season. Even when the team was at full strength, Lee was utilized in some capacity, unlike Bazemore and Mulder.
Lee averaged 6.5 points per game, almost cut in half from the season prior. That was mainly due to the return of Stephen Curry and the addition of Oubre Jr. not a slump in his play. Lee played well when given minutes, shooting a career-high from both the field and from deep.
Averaging 19 minutes per game is telling. Lee played in 57 games. As with Mulder and Bazemore, he proved he can contribute. His future isn’t clear as he is under contract but whether his role will be in the same capacity is relatively unknown.
I don’t think it’d be shocking if the Warriors shooting guard room undergoes some change with Thompson supposedly on the return.
