Golden State Warriors free agent frontcourt target: Cody Zeller

First on our list is the Charlotte Hornets’ Cody Zeller.

Zeller played his collegiate ball at Indiana, making a name for himself with the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-11 center was a top-five pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. While he hasn’t ascended into the all-out star that Charlotte wanted him to be, Zeller is a very capable big man.

He averaged 9.4 points per game this past season, breaking a two-year streak of hitting at least a double-figure average. He’s proven he can score, and he can do it efficiently as well. Zeller hit 56 percent of his attempts from the field this past season.

The big man wouldn’t do much to space the floor, but his touch inside is much more threatening than that of current center Kevon Looney. The 28-year-old will have a market, but having played in Charlotte his entire career, he may prefer to look towards a winning culture in free agency.

The Warriors can’t offer much, and Zeller likely won’t see an eight-figure deal anywhere. They can, however, offer a rotational spot on a consistently winning franchise. That should account for something.

The efficiency and production are there, and the Dubs desire to bring him in should be as well.
