5 trade targets the Golden State Warriors must seek out this offseason
Golden State Warriors trade target: Jonas Valančiūnas
During the playoffs, we’ve seen team after team prove that you can win with a traditional center. The Milwaukee Bucks are doing it with Brook Lopez manning their five, and the Utah Jazz are doing it with Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert holding down the paint.
The Warriors have James Wiseman and Kevon Looney. Both have proven to be injury-prone, and even when they’re in the game they can be a liability. Adding either another playmaker or a consistent big man should be the two options for Golden State.
That’s where Memphis center Jonas Valanciunas comes in.
With the Grizzlies focused on the future, Big Val could be a great addition for the Warriors. Set to make $14 million next season, Val could be a rental, and given that factor, he could be relatively cheap to add like Kelly Oubre Jr. was last offseason.
This past year, Val averaged 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. He shot a career-high 59.2 percent from the field while also drilling 0.3 triples per game. 4 of Val’s 12.5 rebounds per game were on the offensive glass as well.
Give the Warriors those extra opportunities, and they could win several close games. This should be a low-cost, high-reward move for the Warriors.
