Golden State Warriors frontcourt target: Cody Zeller

The former Hoosier, Cody Zeller, will become a free agent this offseason.

It’s expected that he remains with the Hornets, his only NBA home, but there’s no denying he could test the market for a team that could actually compete. While Charlotte has the making of a team on the rise, they’ll still be a year or two out from actually making a run at the title.

The Warriors could use Zeller now.

With a soft touch around the rim, Zeller shot 68.4 percent from within three feet, the second-best rate of his career.

He was around 56 percent from the field in general. Ending the season averaging 9.4 points per game and 16.2 per 36 minutes, Zeller may not be the best, team-changing addition, but he’s a player worth keeping an eye on.

With seven years of experience and standing 6-foot-11, he brings leadership and size to a relatively young and undersized frontcourt.

For the Warriors, that’s exactly what they need, although adding a bit of shooting would also be ideal. That said, Zeller is 100 a player the Warriors should pursue this offseason.

Verdict: Pursue
