Warriors trade for Beal

The above deal assumes that Golden State gets Minnesota’s 1st round pick and that Bradley Beal is interested in playing for the Warriors. It’s likely that Golden State would need to involve a 3rd time in order to move Andrew Wiggins’ contract.

The Warriors’ trade offer would be James Wiseman, Jordan Poole, and Minnesota’s 1st round pick to Washington, and Andrew Wiggins and their pick, 14th overall pick to New York. The Knicks in turn would send both their 1st round picks, 19th & 21st (from Dallas) along with Kevin Knox to Washington.

The Wizards would also send their starting center, Thomas Bryant, to New York. In the trade Golden State would also get the Knicks’ young rim running center Mitchell Robinson, who is currently the best of the 3 centers in the trade and will only make $1.8 million next season.

The compensation Washington would get for Beal is very lucrative. They end up with four 1st round picks in the 2021 draft and two young promising players on rookie deals, Wiseman and Poole, they can also take a flyer on former lottery pick Kevin Knox, who is only 21 years old.

They also gain a lot of cap flexibility. They would probably end up trading at least one of the picks in another deal.

For the Knicks, they get to upgrade the small forward position by swapping Knox for Wiggins, they also get to move up in draft by trading the 19th & 21st picks for the 14th. The only concession they make is at center, as Thomas Bryant is recovering from a torn ACL.

For the Warriors, acquiring Beal means they will have the top 2 scorers from the 2020-21 season, Steph Curry and Bradley Beal. Having Beal will help decrease Curry’s workload and allows Klay to ease back into the rotation.

After all, Curry will turn 34 years old next season and Klay will turn 32. They also get an underrated rim runner center that plays excellent defense and is a great shot blocker in Mitchell Robinson. He will provide much-needed vertical gravity on offense and is the ideal player to guard the best big men in the West, Anthony Davis and DeAndre Ayton.

Robinson is being made available since he is on an expiring contract and the Knicks are not sure they will be able to resign him to a team-friendly contract.

Landing Beal will be a long shot, but it is a possibility.
