Golden State Warriors best-case scenario in 2021 NBA Draft Lottery

Okay, obviously the best possible scenario is if the Golden State Warriors’ own first round selection jumps all the way up to first overall, with the Minnesota pick falling to fourth — giving the Dubs both the first and fourth picks.

In that case, it’s safe to assume the Dubs would add the prolific shot-creator, Cade Cunningham, with the first pick then target one of Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga or Evan Mobley with the fourth pick.

However, to be more realistic, the best scenario for the Dubs is simply maintaining the Wolves’ pick at fourth with their own lottery selection sitting put at 14th. Securing a top-four pick still gives the Dubs a crack at one of the top prospects and it’s easy to see how any one of them could fit right in with the current roster.

In particular, Suggs is a homerun prospect the Warriors should be praying for. His elite offensive talent, mixed with defensive potential makes Suggs the perfect backup guard to take the torch from Stephen Curry in the future.

In order for Suggs to fall to fourth, the Dubs would need some divine intervention. An order of Houston, Cleveland and Orlando could open up a path for Suggs to slip. It’s likely Cleveland or Orlando would opt for a big such as Mobley to avoid overloading their rotation with guards. Then, it would simply be a toss-up if the remaining team selects Green or Suggs as both show strong potential.

Nevertheless, the Warriors will be in great shape if they land the fourth pick. Unfortunately, they have a less than 10 percent chance of this happening. The pick is more likely to drop to 6-11 in the order, leaving an opportunity for interesting names like Davion Mitchell, Jalen Johnson, Scottie Barnes and Franz Wagner to join the Warriors.
