It wasn’t an absolute grand slam, but the Golden State Warriors‘ dream of landing two picks in the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery has come true. The Warriors will be selecting seventh and 14th overall.

With the seventh and 14th overall picks, the Golden State Warriors will get two cracks at finding talent in the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery.

Golden State entered the lottery with high hopes. The odds of obtaining two picks were in their favor but with everything that has happened in the last few years, the Dubs were still holding their breath.

Nevertheless, it’s officially official. The Dubs will receive the Minnesota Timberwolves first round pick (No. 7), completing the Andrew Wiggins/D’Angelo Russell trade. The Warriors will also have their own first round selection at the back of the lottery at No. 14.

The Warriors will have to accept that they missed out on the consensus top four. Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Jalen Suggs and Evan Mobley will all be off the board by the time they select at No. 7. However, one of these remaining names could all be available.

Warriors big board

  • Jonathan Kuminga
  • Franz Wagner
  • Scottie Barnes
  • Davion Mitchell
  • Keon Johnson
  • Corey Kispert
  • Jalen Johnson

Each of these prospects poses an interesting fit to the Dubs. Whether it be the defensive-minded guard Davion Mitchell, who can serve as a strong backup to Stephen Curry, or the versatile forward collection of Jonathan Kuminga, Scottie Barnes, Franz Wagner and Jalen Johnson, the Warriors are set to add someone fun this summer.

Above all else, landing this top-10 pick opens the opportunity for trade. This summer will be pivotal in pushing the Warriors back into title contention. No route takes them there faster than trading this pick for another star, or at least a more developed player.

The Warriors lucked out this year and they should be looking to make the most of these two lottery picks.
