Golden State Warriors NBA Draft: Corey Kispert

The Golden State Warriors aren’t your typical NBA Draft Lottery team. Instead of rebuilding for the future, their primary focus as a franchise should be winning a title within the next few years. For this reason, a prospect like Corey Kispert could be high on their list.

Kispert, a 22-year-old forward who played four years at Gonzaga, probably isn’t going to make any notable leaps in development once he reaches the NBA. It’s safe to assume he is who he is at this point, a 3-point specialist who is going to scratch and claw to hold his own defensively. While I don’t think he will ever blossom into a true 3-and-D threat, Kispert has shown the drive and hustle needed to be a net positive on a good defensive team.

More importantly, he’s a flame thrower from behind the arch. The WCC Player of the Year shot 44.8 percent from the 3-point line last season and was an above 40 percent shooter for his collegiate career.

I don’t have to spend any time explaining why this should be intriguing to the Warriors. A well-rounded player who can shoot the lights out? Perfect fit for the second unit on this team. Even better, it’s completely possible Kispert is available at the back of the lottery as teams opt for players with higher potential, making him a candidate to become the No. 14 pick.
