The Golden State Warriors may not make a massive trade that shifts that landscape of the NBA this offseason, but unlike many teams, they’ll have the assets to make a move that could potentially put them into title contention.

Now, most in the Bay Area are hoping that move isn’t for Ben Simmons. After his uninterest to shoot in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Hawks, Simmons’s name has been tossed around in trade rumors.

There aren’t many teams in a position to make a big-time, blockbuster trade, and the Golden State Warriors are certainly one of them.

While the target isn’t known, the Warriors could pull off a huge trade to put them in title contention once again. Their aging Big 3 may not be enough, yet at the same time, if Curry can keep up his high level of play, they certainly could get the job done.

However, trading for another star could be in order for Golden State. That said, they have the chips to do so. After the Minnesota Timberwolves first-round pick conveyed to Golden State, they will have the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Those have value despite the top six players in the upcoming draft really solidifying themselves. Keon Johnson, who just recorded a four-foot vertical, is expected to be on the board and could intrigue teams.

As for tradeable assets, they have those two picks and then Andrew Wiggins who is coming off his best season in the league. On top of Wiggins and the two lottery picks, No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman should be in the discussion as well.

Wiseman had a solid season yet didn’t show that ability to contribute immediately. Wiseman averaged 11.9 points per game and shot 52 percent from the field. He wasn’t close to the rim protector that they had hoped for and consistently fouled on the defensive end.

Now, it’s tough to blame him after just three games at the collegiate level. He was asked to fill a large role. The upside for Wiseman is still there, especially on the offensive end. However, he shouldn’t hold up a blockbuster trade if it’s for a player like Bradley Beal.

With those four chips on the table and the Big 3 still in their prime, the Warriors should be able to find a trade if they want it and believe that they can get into title contention with it. If not, they’ll want to continue the course with their picks and assets.
