Golden State Warriors trades for Pascal Siakam: The pick-centric deal

Another trade the Warriors may want to consider is one that’s heavy on picks. Here, Wiggins and Siakam’s contracts basically offset, but the Raptors are given three picks, two of which are guaranteed to be in the lottery.

Having that type of power to reload a roster is important. They’ll have Lowry potentially leaving this offseason, so even keeping Siakam and Anunoby would still result in a team barely contending for a playoff berth.

Retooling is an avenue they should look into, and if they’d rather have their choice at No. 7 along with a future first-round pick than Wiseman, who didn’t show that much upside as a rookie, this could be a better proposal.

Also pushing that third first out could help as the Warriors Big 3 won’t lead an elite roster for that much longer. In 2024, the Warriors may be a team high in the lottery. You just don’t know which is why that pick could carry major value.

Nonetheless, some teams, like Oklahoma City, have shown a desire to retool with numerous high-value picks. Toronto could follow in their footsteps with this trade.
